Standard Youth Camps

ORCA English Adventures offers summer day camps for children ages 6-12 (Junior Camp) and 13-17 (Teen Camp). We offer programs for both, students needing ESL (English as a Second Language) as well as for native speakers. One of the unique features of our youth programs is that English-speaking students are combined with ESL students during afternoon activities. The benefit is two-fold. Non-ESL students have a chance to learn about other cultures and perhaps to make life-long friends. ESL students also have an opportunity to make friends and they also have the chance to use the language they are studying in morning classes. Our summer programs combine morning classroom study with afternoon outdoor and cultural activities. Non-ESL students participate in fun classroom sessions covering topics such as Archaeology, Photography, Arts & Crafts,  and Music.

Our Children's Non-ESL Programs

ORCA English Adventures Junior and Teen camps offer:

  • 15 hours of classroom English language training per week
  • a maximum of 12 students per class allowing for full participation by all students
  • qualified, experienced, and friendly teachers
  • educational and fun afternoon activities that encourage English language practice
  • afternoon activities with native speaking campers to practice English on a “friendly” level
  • all-inclusive fee (activities, classes, homestay, meals, transportation is included)
  • diplomas certifying achievements for each participant

ESL Classes

Our ESL classes are designed to be challenging, yet fun at the same time. Morning classes are divided into 3 fifty minute periods. Students take a Grammar and Vocabulary class, Speaking and Listening, and Reading and Writing. Of course, in all classes, students are expected to speak as much as possible to practice what they are learning.

To promote language learning, we have a firm English Only policy. Students are here to learn English and we feel that this is best done by speaking English all the time.

ESL (English as a Second Language) Camps

ORCA English Adventures offers summer and winter camps for children ages 6-12 (Junior Camp) and 13-17 (Teen Camp). We offer programs for both, students needing ESL (English as a Second Language), as well as for native speakers. One of the unique features of our youth camps is that ESL students participate in afternoon activities with non-ESL students, thus giving our international visitors an opportunity to practice English in “real-life” situations and to make Canadian friends. Summer programs combine morning classroom study with afternoon outdoor and cultural activities. Students needing ESL will attend morning ESL classes that will give them the language skills needed to participate in afternoon activities.

What Do Tours Include ?

Our tours include accommodations, food, ESL classes, activities, as well as transportation to and from activities. You will stay at a beautiful hotel in Squamish, B.C. Squamish is located one hour north of Vancouver and one hour south of Whistler, the future site of the 2010 Olympics. Squamish is famous for its natural beauty, easy access to outdoor recreation, and friendly people. Activities have been researched and planned in order to truly give you a taste of life in British Columbia.

You will experience the exciting nature, culture, and history B.C. has to offer. Of course, we know that travelers want to have control over the activities they participate in, thus, we allow you to customize your trip by “adding on” activities, if you so desire. Perhaps you’d prefer to learn to scuba dive, rather than go for a hike? We can arrange that!
